Dennis McLeod

Art Director
David Armario Design

Dennis McLeod is the art director of David Armario Design in Glen Ellen, California. He is a graduate of both the California College of the Arts and the Virginia Art Institute. With 25 years in publication design, McLeod is the former design director of Macworld magazine, where he received a nomination from ASME for a "National Magazine Award" for design. He has served as creative director of creative design services for PCW Communications, developing branding and marketing materials for the corporation as well as its four publications. His work appears in the permanent collection of the Archenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts of The Legion of Honor Museum, San Francisco. He has received awards from American Illustration, Communication Arts and the Society of Publication Designers.

Cara Llewellyn

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt's Children's Book Group

Cara Llewellyn is the senior designer in Houghton Mifflin Harcourt's Children's Book Group. She arrived at HMH's Boston office as a design intern while studying illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design. After graduating with honors, Llewellyn has designed and art directed many critically acclaimed children's books, including the Newbery Honor-winning Dark Emperor & Other Poems of the Night by Joyce Sidman; Renata Liwska's Little Panda; David Macaulay's Built to Last and A Dignity of Dragons illustrated by Nicoletta Ceccoli. Her most recent project, The Quiet Book, by Deborah Underwood and illustrated by Renata Liwska, is a New York Times bestseller. Its successor, The Loud Book, is slated to publish this Spring.

Brian Lambert

Crispin, Porter + Bogusky

Brian Lambert is a senior art director at Crispin, Porter + Bogusky in Boulder, Colorado. He met his loving, supportive, patient and understanding wife while living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They have since lived in four cities, and the family has grown to include two children and two cats. Lambert has a BFA from the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul, Minnesota, with an emphasis in communication design. Prior to CP+B, he worked at Space150 Minneapolis, The Wexley School For Girls (freelance), Butler Shine Stern & Partners and Barrie D'Rozario Murphy. His work is also included in the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with his family, cycling and working at Crispin, Porter + Bogusky.

Ann Field

Illustrator/Department Chair of Illustration
Art Center College of Design

Ann Field is department chair of illustration, Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and past president of ICON, The Illustration Conference. Field's award-winning collages and bright illustrations are universally recognized to inspire. Educated at Brighton College of Art, England, she was mentored there by British illustrator Raymond Briggs-best known for his Snowman books and movie. After emigrating to the United States, Field worked with fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez, and settled in Los Angeles. She has been featured in Communication Arts and received awards from the Society of Illustrators, Annual Report 100 and Graphis. Her clients include Levis, Target, Hard Rock Hotel and Nike. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Design Museum.

Nicholas Blechman

New York Times Book Revew

Nicholas Blechman is an internationally recognized illustrator, designer and art director, based in New York. He is currently the art director of the New York Times Book Review. He previously art directed the Op-Ed page, where he initiated the Op-Art section. Since 1990, Blechman has published, edited, and designed the award-winning political underground magazine Nozone, featured in the Smithsonian Institution's Design Triennial. His illustrations have appeared in GQ, Travel + Leisure, Wired and the New Yorker. Blechman co-authors with Christoph Newman a series of limited edition illustration books, One Hundred Percent and is the author of Fresh Dialogue One: New Voices in Graphic Design; 100% EVIL; Nozone IX: EMPIRE and most recently, Nozone X: Forecast. Blechman lives in Brooklyn with his wife and son.
