33rd Tour of Napa Valley cycling jersey and wine bottles
Collateral, Consumer
Every year the Eagle Cycling Club hosts the Tour of Napa Valley (featuring 30-, 60- and 100-mile courses through picturesque Napa) and every year, a cycling jersey is designed to commemorate it. In addition to the traditional wine and vine references, designs have derived elements from biker tattoos and cycling sprockets and usually contain several illustrations featuring the Eagle Cycling Club’s eagle.
This year's jersey utilizes cycling’s traditional “maillot jaune” yellow, bright lime green and bright purple and showcase an oversized distressed typography treatment rendered in black, with the name and date of the event in several locations and in assorted fonts. Designed by Pamela Harvey Design, (Bristol, Rhode Island) the design was adapted to a series of twelve wine bottles, by Premier Glass and Package Company (Napa, California); available for auction at the cycling event, the bottles were engraved and painted (using full-bottle painting techniques) with the jersey's super-sized fonts, full palette and incorporating the edgy character of the bike jersey. The wine source, design and fabrication credits were engraved on the bottle back.
