80 Sillas restaurant identity

Design firm p576, based in Bogotá, Colombia, has crafted the identities of many of the city’s restaurants. For the new Bogotá eatery 80 Sillas, the firm aimed for the cool-yet-relaxed vibe of a neighborhood favorite. The client, restauranteur Felipe Vasquez, wanted to base the identity on chairs (hence the name—sillas means chairs) and p576 ran with the idea, developing graphics for coasters and postcards based on some of the most important chairs in the history of industrial design, each complete with background information and credits. Even the business cards riff on the theme, with the text forming the shape of a chair. Other design elements reflect the culinary experience, such as a per-glass wine menu on which each varietal is represented by its color, and a sensual, curving logotype that suggests the artistry of the food.
