Newhouse School donor recognition/graphics program

Environmental Graphics, Education

New York’s Poulin + Morris Inc. recently completed a comprehensive donor recognition and environmental graphics program for Newhouse III; designed by Polshek Partnership Architects it’s the latest addition to the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. The solution relies on the use of metaphor and technology to communicate the foundation and future mission of this premier school of journalism.

The unique donor recognition wall located in the building entrance lobby acknowledges the digital evolution of public communications with more than 100 staggered, horizontal LED digital panels displaying information in a fluid, synchronized, pace as if it were being delivered in "real time." A typographic wall mural located in the atrium of the building spans three stories identifying NEWHOUSE and its programs (media studies, journalism and graphic design) through CMYK-colored halftone dots. The visual metaphor celebrates the school and its pursuits of traditional and non-traditional forms of public communications in the digital era.

Richard Poulin, design director; Brian Brindisi/Alpkan Kirayoglu, designers; Jeffrey Totaro, photographer.
