The packaging design for the newly “kickstarted” custom fragrance line Commodity required a simplicity rarely seen in the fragrance industry. “By keeping to simple shapes and honest names, our hope was to make fragrances accessible to everyone,” said Owen Gee of the design firm Ferroconcrete. “This led to an execution that is modern with a nod to heritage. The portable ‘roller’ size allows people to carry their favorite scent wherever their modern travels might take them. By using leather and suede, the carrying case will only get better with age like a trusty wallet or watch strap.”
