Enchanted main title sequence
Motion Graphics, Entertainment
Walt Disney Pictures' Enchanted, directed by Kevin Lima, is a classic animated fairytale that turns into a modern, live-action story. It follows the beautiful princess Giselle who, banished by an evil queen from her magical, musical, animated land, finds herself in gritty modern-day Manhattan. Designed and animated by Hollywood, California-based yU+co, the title sequence is a lush, illustrated pastiche of familiar fairytale imagery that begins with an overhead shot on the weathered-leather cover of an animated storybook. The camera zooms-in, thrusting viewers into a magical world of fairytale lore with stunning moves and seamless transitions between flowers, fairy wings and a princess kissing a frog. Tying it all together is elegant typography that envelops each scene like an overgrown vine. The authenticity of the look was accomplished by bringing-in (early in the creative process) freelance illustrators who drew all of the imagery by hand; the images were later scanned and composited with other 2-D and 3-D elements. The movie opened in November 2007.
