HP attends 200 tradeshows each year. In the past, attendance meant trucking thousands of pounds of exhibit equipment across the country and, unfortunately, disposing of it afterward. Thanks to San Francisco-based Paper Plane Studio, and HP’s focus on designing for the environment, that picture has changed. The company’s innovative thinking—combined with environmentally responsible materials—has resulted in a modular, reusable exhibit space that is 30 percent lighter. The new system, designed from a green perspective, uses sustainable materials such as bamboo, carpet made from corn, and a 120-degree approach, using organic shapes that allowed greater traffic flow, and more counter space to showcase products. To simplify shipping, setup and use of the space, the new booth components are light, modular and durable. The innovative new exhibit has reduced the company’s overall carbon footprint with this lightweight, modular system. Change is, indeed, good.
