HP WebOS "Mobile Expressionism" campaign
Exhibition Design, Business
Creature, the Seattle- and London-based creative agency, is behind a new campaign urging developers to celebrate their creative potential. The global campaign for the HP webOS mobile platform celebrates the art of the app developer by looking beyond the technical challenges of creating apps and rebranding the process as Mobile Expressionism—the latest in a long line of art movements such as Cubism, Impressionism and Pop Art.
Positioning developers as modern day artists, able to demonstrate their contributions to popular culture using mobile content, the campaign celebrates the link between technology and creativity. Creature commissioned several leading illustrators and artists to create nine pieces of original art inspired by popular mobile apps (shown are Flight Track, Angry Birds, How to Train Your Dragon and Evernote). The campaign’s online assets are a series of 90-second films featuring developers from Facebook, Sony Pictures and DreamWorks SKG. Titled Meet the Mobile Expressionists, they illustrate how high-profile developers use webOS to realize their work across photography, film and games, as tangible mobile content.
The campaign has rolled out globally and the silkscreen prints will exhibit at a number of international developer events and in a print catalog showcasing the thousands of apps currently available on webOS.
