Masa Chocolate is a product of Colombia, where artisanal chocolate is not a cultural craze the way it is in the foodie cities of the United States. So the brand doesn’t need fancy packaging to stand out—the product itself is its own identity. Bogota-based design firm Siegenthaler & Co left out any unnecessary decorative details and created packaging that is straightforward and sophisticated. The designers avoided wordy descriptions and clever names, identifying the chocolate instead with a basic numbering system and clear list of the key ingredients in each bar. The color scheme is distinctly South American, a proud nod to the chocolate’s tropical Colombian origin.
