Re music video
TV/Radio Commercials, Entertainment
During a trip to Norway, director Balázs Simon felt he was approaching the end of the world: the water level was rising, and the mainland was slowly disappearing. He captured his feelings of loss in a music video for Berlin composer Nils Frahm's song, "Re." Fragmented clumps of earth float in the air, then ensnare a stately deer that attempts a futile escape. Simon animated the movie from freestyle drawings. He didn't recreate the scenes in 3-D, but broke the graphics down to their elements and used them in the 3-D space, like a relief. "This way," he says, "the video exists somewhere between 2-D and 3-D."
