The opening weekend of London’s Festival of Architecture took place June 19 through July 4 and celebrated one of the capital’s most elegant thoroughfares: The Regency terraces of the north-south route between The Regent’s Park and St James’s Park, designed by influential city planner/architect John Nash, who shaped much of London as it’s known today. Launched in conjunction with the festival—through a partnership between RIBA London, The Royal Parks, English Heritage, The Crown Estate, Applied Information Group and The Electric Mapping Company—this interactive walking tour/iPhone app is based on a reimaging of John Nash’s north-south route. Known as the “Nash Ramblas,” a name coined by architect and urban designer Sir Terry Farrell, the route is populated by some of the UK’s foremost historical, cultural and architecturally important landmarks.
