Simms, headquartered in Bozeman, Montana, makes superb-quality fly fishing gear. For the company’s 2006 brand campaign, Wenham, Massachusetts-based Mullen photographed some of the country’s most respected fly fishing guides in their home waters, outfitted in the Simms gear they use every day. Beautiful location images, coupled with a “hand-tinted” technique, used to colorize black-and-white photos before the advent of color film, capture the passion and intensity of the guides and the quality of the gear. The campaign appeared in a number of fly fishing publications: Fly Fisherman, Fly Rod and Reel, Salt Water Fly Fisherman and Gray’s Sporting Journal.
