RBC Emerging Filmmakers Competition campaign

To raise awareness about the RBC Emerging Filmmakers Competition BBDO, Toronto wanted to create something simple and memorable. Afterall, it's a film competition for great films and talented directors that most people have never heard of and it's judged during one of the most famous film festivals in the world: Toronto International Film Festival. Those two facts led the creative team to its concept: The film ideas are big. The filmmakers aren't yet. The series of spots, directed by Holiday Films’ Steven Tsuchida, follow an emerging director over the course of one night as he is denied entry into his own film party, gets brushed off by a big time producer and eventually gets recognized, but not as a filmmaker—as the hostess for a chicken joint.
