Routledge book Exhibit

Routledge book

This book design from London’s Surgery & Redcow uses data visualizations to examine our urban futures.

Recoded City: Co-Creating Urban Futures is not just a book—it’s a rich glossary. Selecting some of the most relevant and necessary practices, initiatives, and projects in the fields of urban design, planning and architecture, it discusses them for a wide audience.

In order to design and produce this 320-page book, the London-based studio Surgery & Redcow worked in partnership with the book’s coauthors, Lucy Bullivant and Thomas Ermacora, creating a volume superabundant in digestible data visualization solutions and infographics. Such information-rich graphics, when displayed in sleek layouts, help Recoded City’s pages reach beyond architecture, urban design and economic strategies/solutions, deep into a more nebulous region that questions how the cities we live in every day are propelling us into an out-of-control future.
