Studio MPLS redesigns a whiskey brand’s packaging to evoke the artisanal spirits inside.
In 1996, Woodford Reserve first made a splash in the superpremium whiskey scene with its perfectly balanced bourbon. Today, this fast-growing brand is creating ripples once again with a redesigned packaging portfolio and evolved brand identity, the fruits of its two-year collaboration with Minneapolis’s Studio MPLS. Customers who now look for their favorite bottles of Woodford Reserve on store shelves around the world will be greeted with a refined logotype and color palette, new iconography depicting the distilling process, and modern illustrations. This attention to detail also extends to packaging. Woodford Reserve’s Double Oaked Bourbon and its Kentucky Straight Bourbon and Rye whiskeys feature revamped bottle structures, closures and labeling treatments, and the 2016 edition of Woodford Reserve’s limited-release Master’s Collection whiskey, too, presents new labeling treatments. Such keepsake packaging can be enjoyed long after the last drop has been poured.
