Duration: I took a photography class in high school when I was about sixteen and I never stopped. Though I've been working professionally for six years. Staff: I work either by myself or with a writer when on assignment. Education: International Center of Photography. Cultural Influences: I have several different cultural influences being the child of a Swedish mother, an Eritrean father and an Arab stepfather. My mixed background has pushed me to want to travel and understand different cultures and ways of thinking. I am also influenced by photographers like Joseph Koudelka, singers like Nina Simone and filmmakers like Werner Herzog. Environment: I am happiest when I am out in the field walking, talking to people and taking pictures. Philosophy: "The secret of life is to have a task, something you devote your entire life to, something you bring everything to, every minute of the day for the rest of your life. And the most important thing is, it must be something you cannot possibly do." —Henry Moore
