Duration: Five-plus years. Staff: A handful of amazing stylists, assistants and digital techs, a part-time studio manager and a new rep, Candace Gelman & Associates! I pull together the team who will be the best fit for the project at hand. Education: UCLA's fine arts undergraduate program, assisting commercial photographers and making plenty of mistakes. Cultural Influences: Family dinners, an eclectic range of music, medical diagrams, spicy foods, fog and awkward moments. Environment: A spacious and orderly studio gives us a clean slate, healthy food, good projects that keep us motivated and music is selected for the average energy of the people in the room. (My last project called for a Waylon Jennings marathon.) Philosophy: Less is more.
