Duration: I started working as an illustrator in 2007. Staff: Just me! I’m represented by Anna Goodson Management and Napa Illustrations. Education: I studied fashion design in The University of Art and Design in Helsinki but left school to concentrate on illustration. I’m learning as I work. Cultural Influences: I love fashion, especially designers like Jonathan Saunders and Dries van Noten who use a lot of prints. I’m inspired by mid-century illustrators, Japanese woodcuts and artists like Gustav Klimt, Sylvia Sleigh and Marci Washington. Music also inspires me; I wish I could paint a picture as lovely as a Kate Bush song. Environment: I work from a corner in our living room, mostly after dinner. Working during the night is the best. Philosophy: Love what you do but don’t stop pushing for something better.
