Rockie Nolan

Duration: I began photographing five years ago and have worked in fashion and portraiture for the past two.

Education: Savannah College of Art and Design.

Cultural Influences: Youth, femininity, romanticism, Lula Magazine, illustrations in old childhood books, the new and the old, suburban life, science fiction novels and films, young ballet dancers, city streets and the sound of crackling music from old record players. I'm especially inspired by musicians like Joanna Newsom, Mariee Sioux, CocoRosie and Jenny Lewis.

Environment: I seek sunlight to shoot but make a dim cave in my bedroom to process images.

Philosophy: "You don't take a photograph. You ask, quietly, to borrow it." —Anonymous
