Duration: Professionally? Since I graduated in December. Staff: Just me. Education: Art Center College of Design, BFA in illustration. Cultural Influences: My mother is Japanese, so I’m heavily influenced by her culture. I grew up watching hours and hours of anime of course, but I also love looking at origami patterns, woodblock prints, screen paintings and the decorative designs on wooden trays and teapots. I’ve spent a lot of time growing up in Japan, in the countryside, and that shaped my aesthetic tremendously. I respond best to simple, quiet, understated beauty that patiently waits to be discovered. Environment: I feel most comfortable working in my room, with NPR playing in the background and the dog snoring on my bed. Philosophy: Do what you love, not what you do best.
