Inserts + Outserts

Insert Specifications

Delivery size is 8 7/8" x 11 1/8". Bindery trims 1/8" from all sides. Publication trim size: 8 5/8" x 10 7/8".

Maximum weight allowed is 80 lb. cover or 100 lb. text.

Undersize, odd-shape, heavy (greater than 80 lb. cover or equivalent), gatefolds, tip-ins, die-cuts or inserts that are not printed on all sides will not be accepted as bound-in inserts.

Lightweight inserts should be checked in advance with publisher to determine acceptability and possible extra binding charges.

Please keep live area at least 1/2" from outside trim and 7/8" from gutter edges. Perf should be 1/2" from gutter edge.

60,000 inserts required. Insert quantities are subject to change. Please check with the publisher for the latest quantities. Overages will not be stored.

Outsert Specifications

Odd-shape, undersize and/or heavy inserts such as posters, CDs and brochures, cannot run in Communication Arts as bound inserts but may be considered "outserts."

Supplied outserts are placed loose on top of the front cover and inside the protected box in which the magazine is shipped. Outserts are mailed to U.S. and Canada subscribers only.

Outsert weight can not exceed 3.3 ounces. Dimensions must be trim size or smaller.

Outserts may be your only way to reach the Communication Arts' audience with a direct mail type of piece since the CA mailing list is unavailable for rent, sale or trade.
