AAVE Teen Adventures

Travel/Tourism, Consumer

This site for America’s Adventure Ventures Everywhere (AAVE) presents the company’s 2006 trips to an international audience of teens (11- to 19-years-old) and their families. Twenty-seven trips are featured in a simple, straightforward visual format with appropriately laid-back copy and candid images. What’s not to like? This site’s both informative and graphically appealing, but what’s really impressive is how it talks to teens without talking down to them or trying too hard.

• The global nav is a unique, on-its-side version of a Flash dropdown menu that saves mouse travel, animates the space and keeps the navigation from invading the content beneath it.

• Downloadable forms and applications are not only clearly marked but available in both PDF and Word formats.

• Worth mentioning is the execution of the site map that avoids presenting a simple list of content and instead graphically repackages the site’s visual elements.
