American Revolution Center

Museum, Consumer

This online exhibit for the American Revolution Center assists with its mission to create the first national museum commemorating the entire story of the American Revolution and to establish itself as an educational resource.

Since the physical museum is not yet built, the tour, event and exhibition information that are typically seen on a museum site, don’t exist. Instead, the site acts as a showcase for the American Revolution Center’s significant collection of artifacts. The collection is brought to the forefront with a fairly minimal navigation, full-bleed background images that scale to fit the browser size and a collections timeline that encourages interaction.

• In development for seven months, the site is part of center’s outreach before it begins construction of its museum at Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia.

• A searchable database of lesson plans pulls from a number of Revolutionary War sources including Colonial Williamsburg, the National Endowment for the National Endowment for the Humanities's EdSitement EdSitement, the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, George Washington’s Mount Vernon and Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello.
