The official site for Canadian singer/songwriter Kathleen Edwards
The content on this site doesn’t differ from what’s typically found on music sites; it’s the visual design that’s noticeable and memorable. On-target with the look and musical style of the artist, it’s an interactive extension of the artwork on Kathleen’s latest album Asking for Flowers.
The interface is less a standard scroll through of content and much more like flipping the pages of an album of words and images. It’s a tactile, singular experience that’s a fitting environment of fluid transitions and a seamless flow of content between interactions.
Functionally, it consists of a familiar, left hand nav supplemented by the ability to navigate up or down through the vertically scrolling content simply by selecting the section below or above the current focus. Particularly gratifying is the interface for a stack of images in the Photos section, that places the top image at the bottom of the stack after it’s clicked. Ultimately it’s very similar to how it would feel to pick up a stack of photos and sort through them (although, it’s probably been awhile since anyone’s done that).
• Site content is fed through XML and contains three videos, ten MP3s for download, and more than a dozen frequently updated photos from Kathleen on tour and streamed songs from the new album throughout the experience.
