Travel Oregon

Travel/Tourism, Consumer

This content-rich site entices in- and out-of-state travelers with Oregon-related activities, lodging, dining and recreation. Tourism sites are launching at a fast pace. Many are good. This one is very good. With more than 6,000 pages, it’s a meticulously branded experience with a perfect combination of rich information and breathtaking imagery. Like a well-executed brochure, it hooks visitors with inspiring visuals and retains them with great writing.

• Instead of depending on set itineraries, or specific travel criteria to direct travelers, the navigation focuses on how best to showcase and romance the state.

• A journal-entry-like approach offers a well-rounded look at this popular destination state.

• Especially charming and always appropriate are the series of pictograms that accompany content. Although most don’t function as links, they do a nice job of helping visitors locate specific types of content and add markedly to the successful branding of the site.
