This site showcases the Yaris sedan and liftback in action as they drive along well-known metropolitan streets. Not since the launch of Volkswagen’s Turbonium have we seen a car site that’s so technologically strong on the backend and so spirited and clever on the front. Needless to say (along with TV spots created by Saatchi & Saatchi LA and produced by Tokyoplastic) it’s generated a lot of buzz for Toyota’s new subcompact model. The whole concept behind the site is to showcase the Yaris in fun and unique settings (places where independent-minded young car-buyers live and spend their free time). With that in mind, visitors in search of a new car that suits their values and lifestyle, can select from among five cities for their virtual test drive.
• The experience is largely structured around simultaneous video streams of driving footage. Shot from four different camera angles, the seamless experience enables visitors to toggle back-and-forth between driving perspectives.
• Each city tour is accompanied by a selection of music created by local unsigned indie bands that reflect the city’s vibe.
• The experiential navigation has a game-like approach that includes an interactive map and an interactive Yaris; it’s a sound-effects-filled interface that’s as engaging as driving down the streets of the site.
