1964 Supply Co. is a cannabis lifestyle brand run by a collective of craft-cannabis artisans and industry pioneers. Its name is both a reference to the year when THC—the primary mind-altering compound of cannabis—was discovered, as well as a nod to the counterculture of the 1960s. Clearly, designing any old branding and packaging system for 1964 Supply Co. just wasn’t going to cut it. So Vancouver-based ad agency One Twenty Three West enlisted the help of nine artists around the world. The agency sent samples of twelve different cannabis strains to these creatives, asking everyone to use the product, then interpret the feeling of the strain in her or his individual style. The result is a campaignable packaging system whose unique artwork helps customers understand the range of strains and see which ones are right for them.
