Creative agency B-Reel and artist Craig Ward collaborated to create the Shadow Clock, the first ever third-party development of watch faces for Android Wear, the Android’s wearables collection. While Ward is known for pioneering new arenas in typographical art and process-driven style, B-Reel partnered with the artist to bring his work to an emergent digital medium. Inspired by the concept of a sundial, the watch face’s sophisticated design uses light, shadows and tone with custom-designed, rounded numerals to reveal the time, transitioning from lighter tints to darker shades as day moves to night. As one of the first official development partners for Android Wear, B-Reel worked with with in-progress hardware to deliver dynamic visuals and excellent performance for the wearable’s program.
