“Brooklyn Botanic Garden, designed by The Olmsted Brothers and McKim, Mead, & White in 1910, has grown into a world-class institution hosting more than 750,000 visitors a year, and is a treasured resource located in the heart of the most populated city in the United States,” Richard Poulin said. “As the Garden nears its centennial in 2010, the need to improve its aging infrastructure and ensure that its programs and collections remain relevant in changing times are key goals for the institution. This 96-page, full-color, bound volume provides a comprehensive plan for the future growth of the Garden’s 52-acre site over the next two decades, and facilitates fund-raising efforts by the Garden to support the goals defined in the master plan. The book’s format, layout, and color palette are derived from the Garden’s overall, initial plan by Olmsted, as well as prominent Garden features including the Cherry Esplanade, Cranford Rose Garden and Magnolia Plaza.”
