With Arla’s acquisition of a range of cheeses from a unique group of German artisan dairies in the Allgäu mountains, brand studio Bulletproof was asked to create an identity and packaging that conveyed the tradition of the Bavarian mountains. The challenge was to integrate the traditional handcrafted cheeses into the Castello contemporary line; the concept of an “Alpine artisanal story” had to be easy for shoppers to decode and inform them of the taste, production and values of each cheese. The packaging captures the provenance, heritage and time honored traditions of the company by taking the traditional cheese wheel format and breaking it into wedges, each section revealing the passion and craftsmanship passed down from generation to generation. The Castello Alps Selection range was released in October 2012 in the US and Canada and will roll out globally this year.
