Ed Brodsky’s grandson, Benjamin, was a train fanatic. Ruth Lubell’s granddaughter, Sophia, enjoyed riding the Essex Steam Train. Both loved watching trains at railroad crossings—the longer, the better! Their enthusiasm inspired Ruth and Ed to create a toy train for them. This evolved into a six-foot long book that reveals the cars, one-by-one, as the text panels are opened. Since the book’s publication, Ed and Ruth have been very busy doing book-signing events at book stores. Their next book, Sophia & Benjamin watch trucks go to work, is in production.
