The first was signed into law in 1872. The fifty ninth was established in 2013. And soon, all 59 US national parks will provide inspiration for a series of posters called the Fifty-Nine Parks Print Series. Born out of the internationally traveling National Poster Retrospecticus (NPR) and produced by Austin-based designer JP Boneyard, this poster series combines the national parks with the best of contemporary printmaking and poster design. Drawing its strength from an eclectic mix of artists and the unique beauty of each park, the Fifty-Nine Parks Print Series aspires to get national park fans into posters and poster fans into the parks by releasing two posters every month through 2017. And the dream from there? Touring the national parks with the full 59-poster collection to host free shows for parkgoers and poster fans alike.
All poster prints are available at 59parks.net, where five percent of every online poster sale is donated to the National Park Service.
