J&L Distilling is a small company based in Boulder, Colorado that was started by two scientists. J&L wanted a bottle design that visually communicated a synergy between art and science, craft and technology. Colorado-based Liquid inc incorporated the distillery’s origins with a modern design, but also maintained a “niche” feel, creating bold icons to symbolize the different products. Using traditional printing techniques such as blind embossing and foiling and signing each bottle by hand, Liquid expressed the crafted quality of J&L’s products and the careful, painstaking process of producing the liquors.
