Working at the forefront of the marijuana legalization movement, rapper Snoop Dogg recently unveiled a line of marijuana-based products called Leafs by Snoop. Pentagram’s Emily Oberman and team designed the identity and packaging—around legally regulated guidelines—for the product line, working closely with Snoop to create a highly identifiable system that touches upon his passion for marijuana, jewelry and fashion. A cannabis leaf made from custom paisley patterns adorns the outer packaging, printed in a clear, tactile spot varnish. Customers slide off the box cover to reveal a fresh blast of vibrant collages, made from cut-up images of verdant koi in clear water or silhouetted palm trees on a sunny beach, as well as a colorful collectible sticker featuring a handwritten message from Snoop. Leafs by Snoop’s engaging and playful packaging system creates a luxurious, special atmosphere that contributes to customers’ enjoyment of the product line.
