To promote LG Electronics’ new Ultra HD 4K television, creative agency Young & Rubicam Sao Paulo designed a series of print ads that reproduce scenes from classic cinema in eight-bit renditions. The ads focus on iconic movie characters—such as the twins from The Shining, or Don Vito Corelone from The Godfather—distorted to such an extent that they are no longer recognizable. The resulting effect drives home the message that the way people watch movies has become outdated.
