Designing a simple, fluid interface that introduces social video sharing to the masses was no easy task, and designer Dan Petty wanted to make sure the video player did all the talking. “I’d never seen a player stuck to the top like we did on Lightt, so I really wanted that to be their trademark look” said Petty. To be sure the video player and timeline features took center stage, surrounding elements were made darker. Petty spent about a week conceptualizing the full look (the client was sold on it right away), and several more weeks tweaking the small details. The response has been enormous. “Users are loving the look and feel of the app, which is always humbling to hear,” Petty said. “I hope the team at Lightt continues to evolve the app and make it better with every iteration.”
