Modern and sleek, yet natural and approachable, the Epiphany Hotel is the latest luxury property towering above downtown Palo Alto. On the ground floor, the boutique hotel’s casual restaurant and bar Lure + Till draws in pedestrians with its branding by Chen Design Associates. Serving simple food that celebrates the Bay Area’s bounty of ingredients, the brand identity needed to communicate chef Patrick Kelly's concept of exploring the region’s flavors like a modern pioneer. CDA developed Lure + Till’s identity to fit seamlessly with the personality of the hotel, which exudes the easygoing entrepreneurial spirit of Silicon Valley. The design firm created custom wood-carved boards with a banded menu system, a clipboard-style check holder, artful coasters, popular matchboxes and a web splash page. Clean, contemporary typography treated with earthy materials and texture—as well as elegantly spare icons that hint at the waterways and fields where the local food is sourced—complete the vibe. “People love the branding,” says Lorenz Maurer, general manager at the Epiphany. “It suits us really well—and the restaurant has been a huge success.”
