Offering one of many pit stops for travelers from Vancouver, Canada, to the world-renowned British Columbia ski resort Whistler, McDonald’s commissioned a digital billboard from communications agency Cossette that whets the appetite for its coffee drinks as well as the slopes. Real-time snowfall data links to the billboard to provide coverage on the conditions at Whistler, and visually relates the snowy peaks of mountains to the whipped cream that tops McCafé mochas and hot chocolates, or the foam on lattes and cappuccinos, the drink’s height rising and falling in accordance with the snowfall levels. The digital billboard ran for four consecutive weeks throughout February, and snowfall ranged from 1 cm to 36 cm during the month, providing a range of visual information for travelers to Whistler.
