Motif wine has an unusual history: the labels actually came first, and the wine answered the call of a design in search of a product. While working on another wine label, Austrian design studio En Garde came up with the groundbreaking idea to create a label without words. The Motif concept was not to include anything that would dictate what to see, taste or smell in the wine. Inspired by the potential of the idea, En Garde teamed up with a winery to realize the vision of a series of wines identified only by pattern, color and form.
