Background: Nord Stream is a product line of preserved foods consisting of sardines, smoked mussels, crab, octopus and squid. When developing the packaging concept, we created a new interactive form of communication between the package and the customer—the picture on the package starts moving when the customer opens the package. 100% ART helped with photography and D/tale helped with production.
Challenges: The most difficult challenge was including the moiré pattern onto the package. We tested paper, plastic and every material that you can imagine. Thank god we found Andrey Shkola, who helped us find certain materials to make our concept come true.
Favorite details: We are very proud of the project even though it’s now just a concept, which will be available for sale. We like how our idea can be easily adapted to various technical production requirements, and we managed to find a beautiful compromise between the eye-catching design and manufacturing costs.
Time constraints: The project was created at our normal speed: two months, though sometimes we delayed this project because of other burning projects.
Specific demands: All the demands of packaging manufacturing and the concept itself. Initially, the idea was adapted only for sardines, but eventually we came to the conclusion that we had to expand the product line. Consequently, we had to think more about the product characters, which had to be animated.
