Grey London’s commercial for the soft drink brand Orangina hearkens back to its French heritage with a quirky homage to French New Wave aesthetics. Directed by Autumn de Wilde, the commercial opens on a typical European seaside resort, where a young boy pushes past an older couple to press an elevator button. The elevator opens to reveal a young woman hula-hooping and shaking a bottle of Orangina to a French garage rock tune, spinning on a bright blue record player. A narrator reveals the new strapline for the campaign, “C’est Shook,” evoking both shaking the bottle and the joy of living an interesting life. The limited palette of muted beiges contrasted with vibrant hues create a visually striking commercial and adds even more charm to an already whimsical campaign.
