“Oxfam America saw our ad campaigns, ‘Flag’ and ‘Scrapbook for Freedom’ for the ACLU and Norman Lear’s voter initiative campaign ‘Declare Yourself,’ and made contact with our agency,” chief creative officer Andrew Janson said. “The best way to get concerned people involved was to put a face on this devastating problem by photographing close-ups of celebrities being dumped on with things like milk, cocoa, coffee, tomatoes, wheat grain, rice, cotton, corn. In effect, degrading, dehumanizing and victimizing each, much as the farmers all over the world are by this selfish, mindless crop-dumping. A canvas, produce-tag was created for head and subhead, keeping the page stark, making the dynamic photo hero. During the execution, celebrities were gracious, having all kinds of product dumped upon them. Photographer Greg Williams did an amazing job capturing these moments. Obviously, he’s to be applauded for all the great shots. Response thus far has been amazing. We’re sure it will grow.”
