"This annual report helped donors and volunteers understand the impact their contributions have on the sick and injured children," said project director Brian Pember. "Diego Villasmil, a thirteen-year-old boy from Venezuela, spent two years traveling around the world searching for a transplant for his failing heart. Told in first person, his story is accompanied by black-and-white documentary photography that recounts his journey and illustrates the comfort, hope and support he found at the Atlanta Ronald McDonald Houses. The story resulted in the most successful donor drive in the organization's 23-year history, more than tripling their highest previous donation level following the publication of the annual report."
