“Color Chips,” an integrated campaign by Durham, North Carolina agency McKinney, demonstrates that the paint expert helps people get the most out of their color with the best paint. Consisting of TV, print, online and rich media, it celebrates a world made entirely of color chips and showcases a wheel of 1,500 paint colors available at Sherwin-Williams’s 3,300 neighborhood paint stores. Four print ads feature original color-chip sculptures created by Matthew Sporzynski—including a vase of flowers, a stuffed animal, a birdhouse and an ice cream sundae—and couple craftsmanship with the fun of selecting just the right paint and color. It’s a brand-focused story about color, using the single most important element in most painting decisions: the color chip. The ads will appear in issues of Architectural Digest, Better Homes & Gardens, Real Simple, Good Housekeeping, House Beautiful and This Old House. The campaign also includes three 30-second television spots and a series of multiple-display banner ads.
