Nonprofit farmers’ market St. Louis MetroMarket offers the St. Louis, Missouri–area access to fresh, affordable produce, meat and staple goods, advocating on the behalf of these communities on hunger issues. The founders of MetroMarket insist that its customers deserve the highest possible standards of experience and appearance. Designer De Andrea Nichols and illustrator Noah MacMillan collaborated with a team of local designers and artists to create the graphics for a mobile market installed on a donated city bus. The team’s inventive graphics riff on close-ups of vegetables that offer eye-popping abstract patterns, or geometric images of harvesting and cooking that hearken to the aesthetics of woodcut prints. The designers created an exciting destination for the people of St. Louis to shop for groceries; the nonprofit has begun work on the second in a planned fleet of five buses that will travel around the neighborhoods of St. Louis, providing access to healthy food.
