New York creative studio Trollbäck Company partnered with TEDGlobal to create the opening titles for this year’s conference in Edinburgh, Scotland. The theme for TEDGlobal 2011 focused on The Stuff of Life and an analysis of the resources, technologies and skills that keep life moving forward—and also make it interesting, enjoyable and worthwhile. Correspondingly, the titles explored the relationship between nature and science; the dissection can be seen in the show open as a variety of manmade and organic objects are sliced to reveal their complex beauty. Longtime creative collaborator of TED, executive creative director Jakob Trollbäck is a member and contributor to the conference and gave his own TED talk titled “Rethinking the Music Video” in 2008.
