Some artists have their brushes and paints. Steven Hodge? He wields palette knives and spatulas. His art, which takes the form of flaky almond croissants and glossy squares of Black Forest cake, can be viewed—and devoured—at Temper, his premium chocolate and pastry shop in West Vancouver, British Columbia. Recently, the owner and chef took his culinary techniques out of the kitchen to create a series of paintings with cocoa butter and icing sugar. Vancouver-based ad agency One Twenty Three West then used these finished pieces to create a new identity for the eatery, as well as vibrant packaging that reflects the flavors, colors and textures of the art inside.
