New York–based creative studio Trollbäck + Company produced an elegant no-budget main-on-end title sequence for the indie film The Last Survivor, written and directed by film designer Tom Hammock. For the motion graphics, the design firm channeled an element of the movie’s narrative—a drought of apocalyptic proportions—and recorded small pools of water drying up on Trollbäck + Company’s office floor. The creative team filmed the footage on an iPhone and used Step, a stop motion and time-lapse iPhone app developed in-house. The end result features abstract, dark frames overlaid with anxious white lettering that presents the cast and crew’s names.
