The Playlist Company provides sonic experience curation, from music management to AV engineering to live performances, for a variety of national and international clients, including some of Canada’s top hospitality brands. After a decade in business, its founders Dali Bikich and Paul Azevedo asked fellow Toronto-based company Blok Design for a new identity that would keep pace with their belief in music’s power to transform the spaces we inhabit and foster deeper human connections. After speaking with Bikich and Azevedo, Blok was left in awe of the founders’ passion for sharing their love and encyclopaedic knowledge of music with their clients. In order to reflect this, Blok knew that the Playlist Company’s identity would need to have its own musicality.

Thus, color, typography and even the logo move rhythmically throughout the identity thanks to deliberate pacing and modulation. Inspired by jazz and soul album covers from the ’40s and ’50s, Blok gave the identity’s colors subtle shifts in tonalities and hues, arranging them in simple, contemporary forms and patterns to mimic music’s ever-changing emotional cadence. A new website is also currently in production. A fluid extension of the brand identity, this immersive experience will invite visitors further into the Playlist Company’s intersection of music and emotion.
