Blending their passion for art and cooking, brother-sister team Nate Padavick and Salli Swindell started the innovative food blog They Draw & Cook to bring recipes to life through illustration. With submissions from around the world, their site rapidly became an online sensation among the Web’s plethora of food blogs; thousands of visitors a month play with its interactive world map of over 1,200 recipes. Their new cookbook, They Draw & Cook: 107 Recipes Illustrated by Artists from Around the World, features the best of the blog’s international recipes.

Guaranteed to inspire creativity through the richness, humor and quality of every artistically-rendered dish, contributors to They Draw and Cook range from professional illustrators to ad-hoc doodlers and talented beginners. Recipes also vary between specific, step-by-step cooking instructions to some that are open to individual interpretation. Loosely organized into recipes suitable for breakfast followed by appetizers, main courses, desserts and drinks, each recipe includes wit, instruction and a pithy cast of characters. With humorous portrayals of kitchen scenes gone awry (too often dishes made from cookbooks look nothing like the images displayed on their glossy pages) They Draw and Cook invites readers to find beauty in the chaos and gather inspiration in the kitchen from the artistic process itself.
